Martin Luther King Throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia
Thousands of young people participated in numerous service projects to celebrate the Martin Luther King holiday. For these young people, it was a DAY ON, not a DAY OFF. Through their service, they put their faith into action, thus, taking a step closer to realizing the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Whether it was as part of youth group, high school CSC, family or religious education program, young people from all ends of the archdiocese demonstrated their commitment to serve their community. Collaborating with adult mentors, the young people provided service for the young, the old, the sick, the poor, their peers and many more.
For the third year in a row, Chester County conducted its own MLK Day of Service. Parish youth groups from Chester County gathered at SS Peter and Paul for a day of prayer, fellowship and service. This day provided the young people with an opportunity to experience a variety of service experiences.
Thank you to all who participated in this day. May the spirit of the day continue throughout the year.
